LAMBDA AND BROADBAND TELCOM POWER ANNOUNCE LICENSING AGREEMENT
SAN DIEGO, CA
(May 30, 2002) - Lambda, a leader in the design and manufacture of AC-DC and DC-DC
power supplies, and Broadband TelCom Power (BTCP), an innovative leader in the
design and manufacture of high current density DC-DC converters utilizing its
patented Flat Matrix Transformer technology, have announced a licensing agreement
on the 50A quarter brick DC-DC converters.
The agreement allows Lambda
to market these leading edge products worldwide, and Lambda will manufacture this
series of high current quarter bricks in its highly automated Malaysian facilities.
"We are very excited about this series of products. Many users of high density
DC-DC converters are reluctant to embrace leading edge technology due to the lack
of viable second sources," said David Norton, Director of Marketing for Lambda.
"With this agreement, we can provide a true alternative utilizing different
factories and different supply chains and leverage Lambda's true global sales
network."
"We are very pleased with this licensing agreement.
BTCP has been a leader in bringing best-of-class DC-DC converters to the marketplace,"
said Kam Sihota, Vice President of Marketing for BTCP. " With this agreement,
we can leverage the global distribution network of Lambda to accelerate the adoption
of our leading edge, high current density products."
Broadband TelCom
Power's innovative technology can provide 50A in the industry standard quarter
brick footprint utilizing patented Flat Matrix Transformer technology. Conventional
transformers utilize a single core with multiple windings to achieve a voltage
step-down ratio, whereas Flat Matrix Transformer technology uses multiple cores
with single or minimal windings. This technology is better suited to handle heat
dissipation, thus allowing higher current density products.
This new "best
of class" quarter brick, answers the continued demand in the industrial and
telecommunications markets for robust DC/DC converters with lower voltage and
higher current requirements in an ever smaller footprint. Utilizing patented and
patent pending technologies, this series offers a cost-efficient, open-frame synchronous
rectification design capable of delivering output up to 50A at 1.8Vdc and 1.5Vdc,
45A at 2.5Vdc and 40A at 3.3Vdc, from a 48V nominal input with a range of 36Vdc
to 75Vdc.
For more than 50 years, Lambda has been a leading provider of
standard power supply solutions, including AC-to-DC power supplies, DC-to-DC converters
and related accessories. Lambda's products power telecommunications, computing/electronics,
medical, office and industrial systems worldwide.
Broadband TelCom Power
is an innovative technology leader in high performance power supplies, and its
proprietary Flat Matrix Transformer technology redefines technology limits in
current density and thermal management.
